TRIP 22-31 INDY SHOOT OUT "UPDATE"

by Brian Pifer, 10-04-2022

We checked out the ridge in hopes of tuna and wahoo but fell short of our expectations. We covered a lot of water today for very little results. Caught 1 wahoo and some tuna to use tomorrow. We decided we're going to check out the lower banks to see if there's any sign this early in the year. Stay tuned for a report shortly.

TRIP 22-31 INDY SHOOT OUT "UPDATE"

by Brian Pifer, 10-05-2022

We started down at the middle of the lower banks hoping for sign of tuna. Unfortunately we never saw a tuna or wahoo. Just wasn't the right conditions. On the way into the beach we found a bird school loaded with Marlin. One of the best marlin fishing we've seen. After everyone had a chance to pull on marlin we anchored up on the beach and had some fun catching seirra mackerel, cabrilla, golf grouper, snapper, and pargo. We are headed back up looking for tuna and wahoo tomorrow.

TRIP 22-31 INDY SHOOT OUT "UPDATE"

by Brian Pifer, 10-05-2022

We had an epic day tuna fishing as we hoped for. As good as it gets on 20-40lb tuna with some wahoo and yellowtail mixed in. Everyone was glad to finally start pulling on fish. 30-40l lb fly lining was go to as they were boiling all around the boat. We're going to stay the night and hope for another great day tomorrow. Wish us luck.

Another great day of fishing for the gang today. We finished up on all the tuna that they wanted and 10 wahoo. We also had beautiful grade dorado swimming around and jumping on anchor. We are heading up the line looking for yellowtail tomorrow morning. Hope we can keep the ball rolling.

TRIP 22-31 INDY SHOOT OUT "UPDATE"

by Brian Pifer, 10-07-2022

Fun day of fishing for everyone today. We had a taste of some yellowtail in the morning on yoyo and dropper loop set ups. Kept working our way up the line all day and fished for some bass and yellowtail along the beach. We're gonna try a new area tomorrow and focus on some more yellowtail.

by Indy Crew, 10-08-2022

We woke up anchored this morning hoping to start getting busy catching yellowtail but the conditions just weren't lined up right. Drove around looking at multiple shallows and just never saw sign of yellowtail around. Finally around 0900-0930 we caught our first fish off a drift. We got our anchor down and started picking 1-2 going until everyone caught what they needed. Beautiful grade of fish ranging from 15-22lbs. We are headed up the coast to fish for bass and halibut tomorrow to finish up our trip.

TRIP 22-31 INDY SHOOT OUT

by Indy Crew, 10-09-2022

Today was a special day. Two of our favorite people aboard the Independence John and Sharon got married. It was a short but beautiful ceremony as we celebrated their new beginning. Before the ceremony we spent our day bass and halibut fishing along the coast. Very fun action most of the day. Halibut fishing was a little slow compared to past trips but we still had a good time. We are calling it a trip and heading home with a heavy load of fish. Thanks everyone for being apart of our Indy Shootout.

We had a beautiful wedding on the boat, officiated by our own Captain Brian. John and Sharon tied the knot. We had wedding cake, decorations, dancing, and all around celebrations. Unfortunately the conga line didn't get past the galley. Join us as we wish them many blessing in their future.

Hi everyone,

Today was travel day and getting all our gear ready for the. The go to setups for most of the trip will be a couple 30 and 40 pound flying rigs with a couple setups for wahoo. Most guys tied on wahoo bombs and raider jigs with a few live bait wire leaders also. We're hoping for sign of wahoo and yellowfin tuna tomorrow at Alijos. We'll be there sometime in the afternoon. Wish us luck!!

TRIP 22-32 TACKLE EXPRESS/PHENIX RODS/BRET EDMONDSON FISHING UPDATE

by Brian Pifer, 10-13-2022

Hi everyone,

We traveled half the day getting to Alijos looking for kelps on the way down. Found 8 kelps for very little results. Caught a mahi and a wahoo. Arrived at the stones around 1pm and trolled around for minimum strikes. Tried a few anchor jobs for tuna and yellowtail but the volume just wasn't there. Ended up catching a couple wahoo, dozen yellowtail and half a dozen mahi mahi. We're gonna try it again tomorrow in hopes for a much better day. We'll keep you posted.

TRIP 22-32 TACKLE EXPRESS/PHENIX RODS/BRET EDMONDSON UPDATE

by Brian Pifer, 10-14-2022

Hi everyone

We woke up on the anchor this morning trying to catch this beautiful grade yellowtail at alijos bank and had very little luck. The ones we did catch were 25-40lbs but didn't seem like there was a lot around. Drive back to the rocks and trolled around for awhile. Finally we had a little window on wahoo for 8 really quick and it was over. Tried numerous spots for tuna and managed to tag a few better ones 18-25lbers but mostly 10-14lbs. Going to try kelping tomorrow for mahi mahi and wahoo. Stay tuned for the next report.

TRIP 22-32 TACKLE EXPRESS/PHENIX RODS/BRET EDMONDSON UPDATE

by Brian Pifer, 10-15-2022

Hi everyone

We kelped most of the day today and had great success. Drive around for awhile until we found our first kelp but after that seemed like we couldn't miss one. Some kelps weren't holding mahi mahi but for the most part their were at least a few on each kelp. We caught what we needed and are headed up the line to be in position for yellowtail tomorrow. We'll let you know how it goes.

TRIP 22-32 TACKLE EXPRESS/PHENIX RODS/BRET EDMONDSON UPDATE

by Brian Pifer, 10-16-2022

Hi everyone

We tried for yellowtail today fishing along the Baja Coast. Say the least we didn't catch many yellowtail (30) but had steady action all day on calico bass, sand bass, bonito, and barracuda. Had no current all day and water temperature dropped which could effect the fishing. We are bailing from down here and gonna work our way up for some bluefin tuna. We'll check back tomorrow.

Hi Everyone

We've been pounding at this bluefin tuna grounds waiting for them to bite the last few days. It's been a struggle to get these fish to bite. Lots of driving and time at the rail. Today we picked and plunked for most of the day. Had 2 good drifts for 24 bluefin. 18 being over 100 and the rest from 40 - 80 lbs. Sixty to 80lb sinker rig was the best way to get bit. Hoping tonight we can scratch at a few more. Wish us luck.

TRIP 22-33 DANNY'S EXTREME "UPDATE"

by Matt Kaullen, 10-26-2022

Trip 22-33 Danny's Xtreme

We have been at it the past couple days trying to locate wahoo and have come up with minimal results. It's been pretty darn tough all over but we have had some action on yellowfin, yellowtail, pargo, and wahoo. We are working our way up the coast for yellowtail and plan to be on the bluefin grounds in a couple days. All is well with our expert anglers and the hunt goes on.
