Rick Ozaki 16 Day
We reached our destination early this morning and had no trouble loading up on flying fish. We set our anchor for the grey light bite, but unfortunately, it didn't materialize. Around 10 am, we started our trollathon (extensive trolling) and immediately got into some steady wahoo action for a few hours. We had lots of bites, but many fish fell off—typical wahoo fishing! We tried again in the afternoon for tuna, but couldn't find any over 100 pounds. We're going to try again tomorrow and hope the bigger tuna move into the area.

Finally found some tuna that wanted to play! We're going to give it another morning here, hoping the tuna bite continues before we make a decision on moving to a new area.

Justin Carpenter 5 Day
We arrived back to port late on our Rick Ozaki 16 day and turned around for our annual Justin Carpenter 5 day. We loaded our group, got bait, and took off for the bluefin grounds. We will be in the zone right at dark. Hope we have good timing. Wish us luck

With bluefin limits nearly reached and two full days of fishing ahead, we've decided to maximize our opportunities and head down the coast. We'll be on the hunt for yellowtail and keeping a keen eye out for any larger bluefin that might be cruising through.

Our gamble to head south paid off with some quality fish coming over the rail today. We are hoping that tonight , the big ones want to play.
