Accurate 3 Day

by Brian Pifer, 5-01-2026

We had quality bluefin tuna action right out of the gate this morning, and the momentum never slowed down, with fish coming over the rail all day long. The grade has been impressive, with plenty of those 40-60lb fish keeping the anglers on their toes. We are staying on the grounds tonight and looking for a repeat performance at first light tomorrow!

Accurate 3 Day

by Brian Pifer, 5-02-2026

Another banger day of fishing for the Accurate group! We managed to top off our boat limits of bluefin tuna by lunch, thanks to some incredible teamwork from our anglers and crew. Shoutout to Matt Elash and everyone who joined us on the trip. We are in tomorrow morning at 0500 to turn back around for another 3 day

Graftech Rods and Avet Reels 3-day

by Brian Pifer, 5-03-2026

We wasted no time getting back on the grounds for our Graftech Rods and Avet Reels 3-day trip. We arrived around 4:00 PM this afternoon and immediately found a nice plunker bite that lasted until dark. The majority of the fish we put in the hold were a quality 50-60lb grade. We’ll be scouting throughout the night to make sure we’re in the right spot for tomorrow

Graftech Rods and Avet Reels 3-day

by Brian Pifer, 5-05-2026

It’s been a relentless few days with excellent daytime action, but last night things really went to a whole new level. We ran into a wide-open bite on a heavy grade of bluefin, with 50- to 90-pounders keeping the deck busy

Seeker 3 day

by Brian Pifer, 5-06-2026

We kicked off our 3-day adventure this morning with Nathan Gunkel and a solid crew of anglers. We’ve seen some signs of life during the day, but we are primarily focused on prepping for the nighttime action. Stay tuned for updates as we head into the dark

Seeker 3 day

by Brian Pifer, 5-07-2026

Last night was a true test of patience as we covered a lot of water looking for the right sign. While the nighttime bluefin didn't want to play, our daytime action has remained steady and productive for the group. Looking for a big comeback tonight!

Tady Lures 8 Day

by Brian Pifer, 5-10-2026

We cleared the point yesterday morning to kick off our Tady Lures 8-Day adventure. We have the legendary Joey Shimizu on board along with a fantastic group of anglers.

We’ve spent most of today in "prep mode"—rigging up, checking drags, and getting everything dialed in for the long haul. Most importantly, we want to send a huge shoutout to all the Mothers today. From everyone here on the Independence, we wish you a very Happy Mother’s Day!

Tady Lures 8 Day

by Brian Pifer, 5-12-2026

We had a phenomenal day of fishing for our Tady Lures 8-day group. The quality of these yellowtail was absolutely outstanding—they were true mean machines. The majority of our catch fell into the 20-30lb range, with several bruisers pushing the 40lb mark. We’re going to give it one more shot tomorrow before heading to a new destination.

Tady Lures 8 Day

by Brian Pifer, 5-13-2026

We had another great morning on the anchor, picking away at a beautiful grade of yellowtail. These fish continue to show their colors, providing plenty of action for our Tady Lures group. After our morning session, we decided to bend it offshore to see if we could find any of that bluefin or yellowfin sign but unfortunately, we came up short on the tuna hunt today. That’s the nature of the game. We'll be back at it tomorrow morning

Tady Lures 8 Day

by Brian Pifer, 5-14-2026

We are pointing the bow toward home after an incredible 8-day run. Despite the weather getting a bit choppy today, the group on board made the most of it. We found plenty of action on big yellowtail holding on the bottom and even managed to capitalize on a few opportunities with some nice yellowfin tuna to cap off the trip. To celebrate a successful journey, Chef Chuck and Rolo put on an absolute display for dinner with a top-tier sushi spread that was second to none.

Tady Lures 8 Day

by Brian Pifer, 5-16-2026

Traveling up the coast, weather and sea conditions are improving significantly. We want to send out a massive thank you to Joey Shimizu from Tady Lures for hosting such a phenomenal trip, providing killer raffle gear, and sharing his expertise on the deck. Most importantly, thank you to every single angler who joined us for this 8-day adventure. We are scheduled to arrive tomorrow morning at 0500.

Tahoe Tuna 5 Day

by Brian Pifer, 5-18-2026

We are out on the grounds on our Tahoe Tuna 5 Day with Tom and Donn Pierson and a great crew of friends. We've seen more than enough bluefin to make a trip, but they are being incredibly tight-lipped and stubborn during the daylight hours. Tonight we will jiggem up

Tahoe Tuna 5 Day

by Brian Pifer, 5-19-2026

It’s been a tough couple of days of grinding for bluefin as they'reall show no go during the day, but we’re staying the course. We’ve decided to give this zone one more night of effort to see if we can get things to turn our way. If it doesn't pan out, we’re ready to pivot and try something different. Weather is beautiful

We wrapped up the Tahoe Tuna 5-Day today with some great island fishing and postcard-perfect weather. Thank you to Tom and Donn Pierson and the whole gang for making this a great trip. We’ll be pulling into the dock at 0500 tomorrow morning.
